THE COLLECTIONS / WOMEN
Women.
Your own signature.
Silk against wool. A strong shoulder and a fluid hem. Build a wardrobe around the pieces you reach for, with room for an expressive evening look.

What should anchor a women’s capsule wardrobe?
Begin with the situations you dress for most often. A softly structured jacket, a straight trouser and a shirt can connect a working day with dinner; a dress may serve you better if you prefer one-piece dressing. Give the next purchase a role before choosing its label. Compare Giorgio Armani, Max Mara and The Row for tailoring directions, and Brunello Cucinelli or Loro Piana for tactile layers.
How can the same pieces feel personal?
Choose one point of contrast: an ivory shirt under dark wool, a sculptural earring beside a clean neckline, or a textured bag against a smooth dress. A defined waist, a long line and generous volume are all valid. Try the silhouette in motion; the aim is confidence in your own proportions, not compliance with a body-shape rule.

A working day, with room for evening
Try a softly shaped navy jacket, a straight ivory shirt and charcoal trousers with a clean line through the hip. For dinner, replace the shirt with a fluid top and carry a smaller bag. Keep the jacket if it makes the outfit feel like you. A shorter jacket can reveal more of a high-rise trouser; a longer one can create a continuous line over a narrow base. These are options to try in the mirror, not rules tied to height or body shape. Bring the actual shoes to any hem fitting.
THE CAPSULE PLANNER / RESEVARIA EDITORIAL
A wardrobe that feels
like you.
1. The styling idea
A women’s capsule wardrobe starts with pieces you wear often and can combine for your actual week. Choose a reliable lower half, two different tops and a layer that works with both. Add footwear for your daily movement before considering another statement piece. There is no required item count: work, climate, laundry and the occasions in your diary decide the useful number.
Our direction is quiet confidence: an ink-navy or charcoal foundation, a lighter tone near the face and one detail with character. A column of similar tones can create continuity; a contrasting jacket can define the upper half. Keep the colours and volume that make the clothes feel personal.
2. The wardrobe
Use this checklist to assess what you already own. The designer names are research alternatives, not verified product listings, price quotations or claims of partnership. Materials and fit must be checked on each exact garment.
| Garment role | Cut, fabric and palette to compare | Designer research directions |
|---|---|---|
| Tailored jacket | Single-breasted, softly shaped wool or wool-blend; navy or charcoal. Try it fastened over your usual layer. | Giorgio Armani · Max Mara · Toteme |
| Everyday trouser | Straight or fluid leg at a comfortable rise; wool crepe or cotton twill. Assess the seat and waist while sitting. | Max Mara · The Row · Theory |
| Light shirt | Straight cotton poplin or fluid silk crepe; ivory, white or pale blue. Check collar and bust ease. | Ralph Lauren Collection · Toteme · COS |
| Fine knit | Fine-gauge merino or cashmere; stone, grey or a colour you repeat. Check neckline, underlayer room and care. | Brunello Cucinelli · Loro Piana · Joseph |
| Alternate lower half | An A-line or straight skirt, or a second trouser if that serves your routine better. Check walking and seated ease. | Prada · Max Mara · COS |
| Dress or evening separate | A fluid midi dress or a silk-crepe top that works with your existing trousers. Check opacity and underlayers. | Giorgio Armani · Saint Laurent · Reiss |
COS and Reiss are premium contemporary research options; Theory and Joseph offer further contemporary comparisons. Heritage and designer labels provide other price contexts. These are broad editorial groupings, not a guarantee of current pricing or superior quality.
For a more defined waist, try a shaped jacket or a shirt tucked into a comfortable rise. For more room through the middle, compare a straight jacket worn open over a continuous base. A shorter jacket reveals more of the trouser; a longer line changes the balance. Try both without treating height or body shape as a restriction. Colour-season language is optional: compare cool white with warm ivory near your face in ordinary light, then choose your preferred effect.
3. Finishing details
A clean loafer, a bag that holds your daily belongings and a single piece of jewellery can finish the same foundations in different ways. Compare Ferragamo, Tod’s and Gucci for loafer directions; Bottega Veneta, Loewe and Ferragamo for bags. Check the exact shoe’s fit and the bag’s usable dimensions before choosing by appearance. Keep hair and beauty familiar for a long working day; a change of lip colour or an earring may supply all the evening emphasis you want.
| Situation | Head-to-toe formula | Personal adjustment |
|---|---|---|
| Working day | Navy jacket + light shirt + charcoal trousers + loafers + practical bag | Roll or alter the sleeve only after checking your working posture. |
| Relaxed day | Fine knit + your preferred skirt or trousers + familiar flats + everyday bag | Repeat one colour in an accessory, or leave the line uninterrupted. |
| Dinner | Fluid top + tailored trousers + the jacket + evening-appropriate shoes + smaller bag | Try the neckline and jewellery together, then rehearse sitting and walking. |
These are styling exercises using garment roles, not a claim that one capsule suits every dress code. Follow the invitation and account for your journey and the venue.
4. The fitting rehearsal
Rehearse the complete look in ordinary light before an occasion. Bring the actual shoes and underlayers to a hem fitting; ask a tailor to assess sleeve length, collar and closure before discussing waist shaping. Shoulder and armhole changes may be impractical, so confirm feasibility and cost before buying. Follow the garment’s care label and the appliance instructions; test any permitted steaming method on an inconspicuous area. Let garments cool and dry before wearing or storing them.
Try a fabric or underwear change before relying on tape or a last-minute alteration. Follow adhesive instructions and patch-test where directed. A calm silhouette begins with clothes that let you move comfortably.
How do you build a capsule wardrobe without overspending?
Record a normal week of outfits, identify the piece you keep missing and try combinations using what you already own. Set a total budget that includes known alterations and care. Buy one gap at a time, keeping return conditions in mind before removing tags or changing a hem. A low item count and a designer label are not evidence that a wardrobe will cost less.
